Director's Workshop at Kean University is where a class of 12 talented directing students each present a 10 minute play. They are guided through the entire process of casting, producing, and directing a show. Elise chose to direct Under The Balcony for it's witty banter, romantically whimsy setting, and comedic moments.

Due to the nature of the workshop, the directors act as stage hands rotating from one show to the next. They are instructed to keep their sets as minimal as possible to ensure a quick turn over. To simulate the Balcony of Juliet Capulet, Elise decided to use ladders found in the scenic shop. The ladders are dressed with wooden frames decorated with flowers and tulle crafted at home.
